CAT7 10 Gigabit Ethernet connectors?
-
Hi, I am rewiring part of my home with 10 Gigabit Ethernet and purchased a spool of CAT7 cable which is 22AWG diameter. I am having problems finding RJ45 connectors that can use 22AWG cable. I've made two ebay purchases of RJ45 connectors. Apparently these sellers are not always telling the truth and none of them are able to use 22 AWG wire. Anyone have suggestions? I can make a standard CAT5 cable in under 2 minutes with the crimp tool but this 22AWG CAT7 cable is driving me nuts. Best Wishes, -David Delaune

Those ones are not available, these ones are and one of the reviews confirms that they work with larger diameter Cat7 cable, why anybody would need more than 1 Gbps at home though is beyond me. [VCE 10 PACK Nickel Plated Shielded RJ45 Modular Plug: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics](https://www.amazon.co.uk/VCE-Shielded-Modular-Stranded-Ethernet/dp/B07B9RDW9Q/ref=sr\_1\_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1534169335&sr=8-5&keywords=Cat7+Cable+rj45)

Well, Not from that particular seller but the connector looks exactly like one of the two types I am using. See the little square "Load Bar" in the background? That's the part unable to fit the 22AWG wire. I've tested it with 24AWG and it fits perfectly. Best Wishes, -David Delaune

are you surprised? try newegg, at least being USA based they are more likely to be honest (well that's the theory anyway.). I'm not sure of your specific need but they do have a wide range of items.
This internet thing is amazing! Letting people use it: worst idea ever!

I think it has to do with frequencies : if you get TV via your Ethernet network and satellite, some of the channels are not available with Cat5 or even some Cat6 (more explanation on Câble Ethernet : Grade 3 ou Catégorie 6 ? - Réseau VDIRéseau VDI[^], in French) because the cable will act as a low-pass filter and filter our your channels. For data, I am with you, 1Gbps is much already ; however 4K TV @60fps is 3840x2160/60p ~12 Gbit/s, so...

Have you tried Monoprice? They have decent products. [Monoprice Entegrade Series Cat7 or Cat6A RJ-45 Shielded Toolless Keystone Jack, 10 pack - Monoprice.com](https://www.monoprice.com/product?p\_id=24756)

Hi, I don't really understand how they can claim to accept a 22 AWG wire... the product page contains the following: Accepts: 22-24 AWG solid cables (bare conductor diameter from 0.50-0.58mm, outside diameter from 5.0-8.5mm) Even though a 22 AWG wire is 0.65mm diameter. The two statements are paradoxical. The maximum diameter they support would be a 23AWG wire at 0.58mm Best Wishes, -David Delaune

Could be a typo in the description, might want to email them to double check. They do stand behind their products (I know from personal experience).

Hi, mouser was always quite reliable supplier as is Newark. Mouser dot com always had amazing phone support staff with knowlgeable suggestions if I had questions. Decent prices, and quick dependable shipping. I aggree, it is better to run cat 7 now and be done, than having to do the job a second time in a few years. cheers
