Why? Should it not be classified a drug?

If you classify it as a drug but then make it legal you have to then categorize each drug as either illegal or legal. If you just make all drugs illegal, it makes the distinction easier. And I'm not talking about medical drugs, although maybe we should because some of the medical ones are worse than what you can get in an alley. Anything that disrupts your ability to reason and think should be something you stay away from, legal or not.

You're not taking my (prescription) pain-killers. I prefer to reason little over no reasoning at all and falling out with everyone I meet.

I've had this discussion many times and I'm not sure why it keeps coming up. No doubt there are some religions that tell you to believe it or else, so to speak. However, my experience with Christianity is the complete opposite. Even Christ himself said if anyone wants to know if what he teaches is true, try it. Test it. That CLEARLY is not taking away your ability to reason, but on the contrary, it ENCOURAGES thought and reasoning. Contrast that with public schools where you are taught to not question what the teacher says. It's so ironic that many of you use this "indoctrination" argument against religion when you yourselves have indoctrinated your own children by sending them to public school. Come with me to Church on Sunday and you'll see it is nothing like you think it is. So, why do you think religion takes away your ability to think?

Again, how so? When Christ himself said to test it, how can you refute that? All you are doing is making false assertions. Can you back it up at all? And are you claiming that public education IS free thinking? There's a lot of questions you are dodging.

Of course it is in the mind; it is an electrical impulse which causes a biological reaction. The same biological reaction as when eating spicy food.

Try giving your own explanation for an open ended question on a test. If it does not match what they want, too bad.

Of course. I went to 13 years public school and 6 years college. If you don't give the answer they want you get it wrong. But now you answer some. How does religion prevent free thinking? There are millions upon millions of religious people. Do you really believe that they are all brain-dead? Surely you can't be that arrogant.

Of course. I went to 13 years public school and 6 years college. If you don't give the answer they want you get it wrong. But now you answer some. How does religion prevent free thinking? There are millions upon millions of religious people. Do you really believe that they are all brain-dead? Surely you can't be that arrogant.

No, but many of them don't even practice their religion. I am myself, like all my friends, a registered Christian. None of us ever go to church or even talk about religion.

OK. But you are still dodging the actual question. How does religion prevent you from being a free thinker?

Not sure what that means. Do you mean a member of a Christian church or do you actually have to register with the government?

I saw on TV one reporter going around and interviewing various stoned individuals 7 am in the morning. That's progress I guess.
