My (WinNT WrkStation 4, SP 3) drives are infected by Win32/Kriz.2409 virus. Though McAfee (Original & Updated to March 21, 01) tries to clean (actually Im cleaning my infected drives from a different computer over the LAN) the infected files, it does not clean the system files (found in c:\winnt\system32) .. like kernel32.dll - as they are in use. I cant use the command-line scanner to remove, coz the anti-virus in my system is also infected. Please suggest me a solution. Thanx.

Make a backup copy of your data files using the other computer on the LAN (check that they are clean), and then wipe the contents of the infected disc and do a complete reinstall of the OS from a clean CD.

If you rerun the NT install and choose to repair your installation, that'll replace the system files with the originals. You'll have to reapply your service pack after doing the repair. --Mike-- http://home.inreach.com/mdunn/ The preferred snack of 4 out of 5 Lounge readers.
