It looks like Bitcoin may find a big batch of new gullibles investors in their scam currency. The yellow vests in France decided to bring down the corrupt financial system by simply withdrawing their deposits. Apparently they have so much money stashed away that they can do that, which makes me wonder what they are complaining about in the first place. This of course brings the eternal old question: what to do with so much cash on hands? They can't spend it all, it will stimulate the economy of the government they are trying to bring down, they can't put it in a bank and here comes bitcoin to the rescue, which lost 80% of it's value just in the last year. [Max Keiser, tweet artist. on Twitter: "If every French person converted 20% of their bank deposits into #Bitcoin (and got a Bitcoin debit card to use for day-2-day stuff), French banks and the government would collapse and a lot of bloodshed could be](https://twitter.com/maxkeiser/status/1071862576999526400?ref\_src=twsrc^tfw|twcamp^tweetembed|twterm^1071862576999526400&ref\_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.cryptoglobe.com%2Flatest%2F2018%2F12%2Fcould-bitcoin-fuel-france-s-yellow-vest-revolution%2F) The bitcoin gurus even have the courtesy to call themselves artists :) But twitter is not enough. There is hope for bitcoin: Italy has allowed free control over each person bank account with no warning, no reason, no permission from any judge, no reasonable suspect. Cash movements are restricted. There are taxes on the taxes to be paid (!). Public money goes to "save" soccer teams and crooked banks. Bitcoin would be a reasonable alternative to State controlled currency - a State which is notorius for its links and pacts with the Mafias (yep, Mafia is the Sicilian chapter of organized crime... there are also 'Ndrangheta and Camorra which are prominent).

Why would you care? As a programmer you should be just fine.

Fine being robbed by a crooked state? I would be fine if I was a mafioso, but since I'm just an engineer I'm game.
