Source for cheap laptop batteries?

Does anyone know of a source for cheap (under $75) battery packs for a IBM thinkpad 770? Also, is there anyway to take the pack apart and replace the cells oneself? All of the prices I've seen for these battery packs are in the $120 - $200 range, which is insane for 6 cells and a bit of control circuitry.

i was in compusa the other week and saw they had a whole bunch of replacement batteries for different laptops and i dont think any of them were more than $70 or so check it out :)
