So, good morning from 'here very rarely rains'. An unlucky guy you were.

well good evening from where when it rains it pours (with light & sound show), but usually over in 30 minutes. oh, but one thing we don't get is Winters ... four seasons, all of them Summer, and shorts all year round. :) (and yes, we get ads for winter clothes)

True, it did not rain when I came for a visit. Instead, I was harrassed by the lions in the Colosseum and the Forum. At least they like it when it's hot and dry.

I have lived with several Zen masters - all of them were cats. His last invention was an evil Lasagna. It didn't kill anyone, and it actually tasted pretty good.

When I went to Tunisia - it rained harder than it had for the past 20 years, they said.

          - I would love to change the world, but they won’t give me the source code.

I still remember what they told us: "Ok, I want to see some decent sacking and looting activities! Don't stop for anybody or anything! Feel free to burn down buildings when you are done! In case anybody asks, say we are the Vandals!" The Vandals still have the bad name up until today. :-) Anyway, I always thought the Romans took good care of their lions[^].

I am in New Zealand. It is currently 9 degrees C. The shortest day is almost upon us. And youtube decides to show me an add "Sky is out, Thighs are out. Get the most comfortable shorts...." These guys are hiring hoards of marketing people to front a huge team of engineers, data scientists, analysts powered by untold compute capacity at the problem, fed with all the data they can source. Yet they cannot tell the southern hemisphere from the northern hemisphere. Maybe that is a new variable they need to add to their models (once they license the patent I'm about to apply for)

Around here, in the US South, a lot of guys go around wearing shorts year-round, snow and ice and sub-freezing temperatures be damned. I don't get it, but maybe those advertisers are seeing this in their data.

Um, every year. Certainly not in Florida, though they've had all three on rare occasions. But in Tennessee, North Carolina, Kentucky, Virginia, Arkansas, northern Alabama and Georgia, yeah, every year.

I wish! Here in Tennessee, we've had 6 or more inches that stayed on the ground for weeks, with temps that stayed in the single digits (Farenheit) for a week or more. That's infrequent, but not rare. Our winters always dip into the teens, twenties, thirties for days and nights on end. Two years ago I had 8 inches of snow in my yard, and it stayed for about a week. The southern US is not in the tropics, some of it is subtropical (barely), but temperate. [Tennessee - Wikipedia](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tennessee#Climate)

I have pictures somewhere taken around the house where there's roughly those same numbers worth of snow on the ground, only measured in feet, not inches. Good times.
