Hello everyone, Can someone explain what Microsoft FrontPage2000 extensions do on a web server? Do they allow you to write ASP pages or are they just simple extensions to keep the users happy? What I'm doing is adding them to a Netscape web server on Solaris (before you all stone me - I used to be Windows device driver developer :-) ) Many thanks for your help, Stravaiger

They let you do "fancy" things like Image rollovers, hit counting, database access, and ad banners very easily. They are also ridden with bugs, so I'd be careful putting them on your server. Cheers, Peter Pearson

FrontPage extensions are used to manage FrontPage webs. The FPE's do things like allow you to see the entire structure of your web site. Normally, you have to know the names of your pages in order to load them from the web site, the FPE essentially provide the ability to "dir" the site and list all the pages being managed and their structure, so it can appear in a nice tree on FrontPage.
