Inside every old person is a young person, wondering what the hell happened.:)

If you can keep your head while those about you are losing theirs, perhaps you don't understand the situation.

Every morning when I look in the mirror I wonder who is in my house - I don't look like that from the inside!

After reading OG's post about ARPANET 50 years ago I started to wonder who is the oldest/youngest active member here (age not membership)?

I was born 1955 - "still coding after all these years". I believe that is a lyric to one of those ballads you youngsters call 'pop' songs. 8)

Not the oldest, and have only posted twice before, but I do follow CP daily. Born 1951. Employed as a programmer from 1972 to 2017. Now retired but still programming as a volunteer for a Christian organization. And for those talking about fathers, my father was born in 1893 and fought in both world wars. 1914-1918 for the British Army, in Greece. 1939-1945 for the Australian Air Force, in the Middle East.

Born a couple of months before VJ day. Without wishing to offend any of our eastern friends, my dad was still fighting their fathers or grandfathers when I was born.

Born 1956 so just a young 'un. Father too young to fight in the war but an uncle spent some time in North Africa where he was captured, met Rommel (" a REAL gentleman, not like that bugger Montgomery.."), escaped (sort of - an allied armoured column drove in and the Africa Corp left in such a hurry they neglected to take their prisoners..).

The definition of a gentleman is one who tries to make all those around him feel comfortable in their presence. So, from what I have heard of both men, he was correct, Rommel was a gentleman and, unfortunately, Montgomery wasn't.
