Let's make an effort to take those wonderful ideas and tutorials posted on CodeProject and make Universal Gui LibrarY (UGLY) :-D. Take those owner-drawn buttons and transparent labels and custom scroll-bars and sliders and make a whole suite of tools for windows programming. We would want to provide: Consistent interface across controls (function calls, data types, iterators) Maximum flexibility (skinning, derivable classes) Maximum efficiency (speedy, powerful, easy to use) Cross platform availability (.NET, MFC, Win32) please add more.

How about an artificial life project with a CP twist? imagine Reproducing Bobs... Seriously, would anyone be interested in an ALife/AI project? This may satisfy JoeSox and also give the rest of us some AI experience.

I am currently planning an ALife demo, nothing fancy just a demo on using Jungian theory(which the AI community doesn't see the necessity of this, imo) to simulate conscious human thinking. It will probably just be a dialogbox app, I installed VS.Net Beta2 msdn edition to get familiar with C#. It's just a matter of finding the time. I started a project at sourceforge http://sourceforge.net/projects/humanaiproject/[^] and plan to start "recruiting" people after I get approved with aaai.org. But this project I want to be the real deal if I can't hook up with some professional group (university or MIT;P COG[^] needs my theories/ideas/approach:-D) Later,

Here is my idea, although it may already exist, or to complicated to program. I need a browser/spider that will spider websites on certain topics. Imagine for a moment this example, It would be ideal for me to set the search (I would imagine it must be a specific search) "+neuroscience +unified +theory -book"(etc) maybe an option for only .edu domains etc. After setting the search options, leave the computer overnite and my results are downloaded(one page deep/html only, for example) or urls saved with title infomation. Why not just use google? well not everything is listed on google and their might be important information/ideas out there. Another example would be for a subject you're interested in, lets say American Politics. I spoke with Marc Clifton about this particular idea. First you would tell the program your concept of American Politics are, like dislikes, experiences( i have made an example text page of this concept tagging idea but I can not find it right now, will post later?). After the concept is built the program will return results that you might find of interest based on your concept, with an option to modify, of course:) So that's my crazy idea, didn't someone post a Microsoft news article that they are working something similair to this, I would like to see who could do better CPians or MS;P I would have suggested human ai but I don't think this is an effiecent way to do it.:-O I would join in the project but I have so many thing going on right now I know it wouldn't be a good decision. I can be a consultant however:-D Later,

Using P2P it would make it easier collect information than if you were to use Google, because many people would be apart of this. The AI part of this would be determining the subjects of the content. I have thought of something like this but the main concerns are: performance, and people with dialup (who could that be i wonder :|) -Steven "the yellow dart" Hicks

Not to be a "Negative Nancy" but VSS is just about the worse development tool I have ever used esp. when it comes to significantly sized projects. It is fine for a small projects but just dose not scale well. Don't belive me? Look as MS, they moved their development teams away from it long ago. It would be a shame and waste of time to have to migrate a VSS repisitory to something like CVS or any of the better SCMs well into a project. Hey don't worry, I can handle it. I took something. I think the person who's in charge of a particular project will choose the language. I won't help much if it isn't .NET, though. ;)

I think this is a fine idea. Marc Clifton has already sown the seeds as far as I am concerned. After his series of articles I don't look at application development the same way. Marc are you reading? Any chances in moving the AAL from a source forge project to a part or subporject of the new CP project? Hey don't worry, I can handle it. I took something. I can see things no one else can see.
