I'm going crazy here!

Apparently a Windows 10 update has changed the behaviour of my File Explorer. For some reason, it now INSISTS on grouping everything in my Download folder and sorting it by date. No matter how often I change it to no sorting and sorted by filename, the way I've ALWAYS had it, and the way I prefer it, the next time I open the File Explorer, it's back to grouped again! Anybody know how to stop this? Cheers, Johnny J.

Mark TwainIt's working fine for me: 1) On the "View" tab, find the "Current View" ribbon section, and click the "Group By" button (on mine, it's the top right of the ribbon section, looks vaguely like a screen between two square brackets). 2) Select "(None)". 3)Close the window. When I reopen it, it's still in "No group" view. What I am I doing that is different to you?

I realise that you are probably trying to be funny, but it's a really stupid comment, and fyi: It's neither funny nor helpful in any way. First of all, this is my work computer. I work for a living programming windows, so you see that changing OS is out of the question. Second of all: Do you actually believe that there is ONE person out there at all who has read a comment like this and thought: Cool, I'll just reinstall my computer with a completely different OS?

Mark TwainOnce you have that working, how about how to get

Ummmm. I think the clue was the.... ;) Nevertheless, apologies if it caused any offence. It wasn't meant.
When you're dealing with something that really pushes your patience, I can certainly understand how a well-intended joke isn't received too well. :-) I have that same thing on one system of mine where I can never get rid of the grouping in the Downloads folder. Why this one in particular, I still don't know, and all known methods I've ever run across don't fix the problem, or at least not permanently. And it just so happens that as I just went back to that folder, on that system...grouping is gone. It might be back tomorrow for all I know.

As it says. Read it again. It works on my personal PC, but some time in the last week it stopped working on my work laptop (both Win 10).

Quoted in full and read back multiple times. If you're referring to some other part of the thread, then I must simply have missed it. Not sure there's anything else I can contribute here.
