            It is a slang word in English for any sort of get together. "I'm going to a do", can just mean, "I am going out to enjoy myself". And is commonly used in crossword clues.

                The English Wiktionary is an amazing resource. It's becoming much better than those other online dictionaries filled with advertisements. do - Wiktionary[^] CTRL-F and type 'party'

                  No, you can find it in Crosswords in any UK publication. Even The Times and The Spectator, both of which have quite fiendish crosswords. See first hit at do - Google Search[^]
