relaxation is an illusion that certain humans are able to produce in their minds. it really does not exist in the material/physical world.

A lot of people turn to alcohol to "relax" by dulling the senses. I stopped drinking in 2001 and thus lost my ability to relax.

short term, I'll work on one of my hobbies. I've taken some vacation before, but it's always spent working on one of my side projects (house remodel, car build, motorcycle build....) I don't seem to have the ability to 'just' take time off, I have to pack it with things to do. someday I hope to do some traveling, but I'm worried I'll go stir crazy thinking about all the things I could be getting done. I've more or less have had a job since I was 12 (under the table working at a mini mart). nearly full time during the summers, fall through spring spent working in the orchards, and at the store when needed. turned 16, High School and 2 concurrent jobs. during college, worked at the college and picked up side work. post college developed at a place that required lots of travel and long hours, but no time to explore (on the remote trips) or take time off. my kids grew up without ever taking a family vacation. they likely would have moved out last year except for Covid, trying to make up for some lost time now. guess I'll relax when I die.

Shutdown everything for 10 minutes (PC, TV, phone, wife/husband/kids/dogs/cats ... ) Sit on a real chair (not couch) and just close your eyes and introspect. I know it sound silly, but it works. No need to go over 10 minutes. I do that often when I need to relax.

            I'd rather be phishing!

              It does for me! :)
