On impulse I connected to the ISS live HD feed and, as the view was almost cloudless I waited a couple of minutes to come ashore in Namibia. Shortly I saw a strange thing: a large white area. This, it seems is Etsoha National Park[^]. First I heard of it. Not surprisingly, the white is a salt flat - a really big one. Image From Space[^] Real Time (almost) View[^] Real Time Location[^] Remember, half the time ISS is on the night side of the earth (90min orbits)

This post made absolutely no sense until I realised you hadn't wrote "IIS"...

Wow, I sometimes look for mindless, time-wasting activities when I don't feel like coding, (why else would I be here!) but this tips the boredom scale!

Well - I suppose you can sit and stare and hope something happens. Others, keeping in mind the 90min orbit time AND the map showing past/present/future locations for ISS would let you predict when something's going to happen. Or, if you continue with your night-watch, you may luck out and be over a thunderstorm (which can look amazingly cool from the top). Well - I need to get back to watching a dandelion re-open and then hope for a stiff breeze.

If only that were a relative term. I live in the West so those that are west of me, well, never mind. :-O
