Need ISP Recommendations!

An elderly couple I know is loading up the RV for their annual 5 month trip around the country - it must be nice to be able to escape the heat. This year there's a twist; the wife wants to take along the PC so she can have Internet access wherever they roam. She thinks she wants AOL, which I abhore, but since I haven't ever used anything but local providers for access, I have no idea what service to recommend instead. I'm looking for a cheap, reliable dialup service in the US with lots of toll free access numbers so that she can call without running up charges from almost anywhere. Any suggestions?

"Ask not for whom the bell tolls;

Rob Manderson wrote: wires?? Yup. I guess that RV parks everywhere offer telephone lines now, along with sewer, water, and power connections. What ever happened to 'roughing it'?

It figures - the website is under construction, and what little is there makes no mention of dialup access.

That's a good thought... I've looked at earthlink before and their pricing is quite reasonable. I almost switched back when I had a dialup connection, but like AOL and everyone else, there's no toll-free access from here. Still, most of the places they'll be travelling won't be as remote as this dump. Thanks!

"Ask not for whom the bell tolls;

Cheers, Tom Archer, Inside C# Mainstream is just a word for the way things always have been -- just a middle-of-the-road, tow-the-line thing; a front for the Man serving up the same warmed-over slop he did yesterday and expecting you to say, "Thank you sir, may I have another?"

As a long-time subscriber to what used to be Mindspring, I also have never had any problems with Earthlink, and the cost is reasonable when compared to the hassles inherent in such things as AOL and Juno. Anyway, the reason for this response is to inquire as to whether you have made the Earthlink transition from dial-up to DSL? I am looking into a new CPU and want the DSL to go with it, while retaining the dial-up access numbers during frequent travel. Any insights or recommendations? Thanks, Dave "You can say that again." -- Dept. of Redundancy Dept.

Yep. I first used their DSL a couple of years back and have had no problems with it at all.
