Trouble with WinXP (not a programming question)
-
Hi folks, I´ve been working with Win2K Proffesional for about a year, and finally I decided to update my operating system to XP. Before installing the new OS, I saved all my important stuff i a different partition, and formatted the originial win2k partition. Now, there is a "backup" folder that I can´t explore or see. When I try to navigate on it, I get the "access denied" message. I´ve tried to use the "rescue console" but I also get that message. Is it any way to rescue these files? Thanks. You should probably put this in the Operating System[^] forum. Regards, Brian Dela :-)

Right click on the folder and go to Properties then click on the Security tab then Click on Advanced then click on Owner. This will allow you to take ownership of the folder, and replace permissions as long as you are administrator on the box. Make sure you have the "Replace owner on subcontainers" box checked to get all of the subfolders/files. -Scott
