I'm assuming the judge is getting confused with the AI based image enhancement that iOS does with photos. Obviously it's impossible for one person to keep up with every technology, every subject, very nuance of every piece of evidence across the entirety of human endeavours, but one would assume that the lawyers would provide a tech brief, and the the judge would take a moment to read it or seek advice. Especially given that the technique is used every day by a billion people. This one made me just want to crawl back to bed this morning. :sigh:

Logarithms? Really? Anyway, zooming is rarely allowed in court and police investigations. I zoomed the license plates of 3 cars whose occupants assaulted me from my dash cam but the presence of visual artifacts was enough to conclude in nothing done. It's benn hard enough to prove the fact that one assailant was armed, despite being more than evident from the video.

Apparently the learned counsel doesn't see a difference between logarithms and algorithms

They'd better remove glasses from the courtroom, too. Don't want anyone having access to artificial image enhancement.

I expect that an "expert witness" who is qualified to zoom would be required.

As it should be - easily resolved. An attorney not knowing the correct word for algorithm doesn't really bother me. Sitting on a jury for 3 weeks while working nights to cover my time and then having the case tossed bothers me. There are very specific processes that occur in a court room, and movies really don't convey it. When you are talking about sending people to jail, it gets serious real fast. Ignore the media clowns.

I'm reminded of the British High Court judge in the 1960s who (it was reported) during a trial famously asked "and who are 'the Beatles'?"🙄
