Ginger Ale is just a more specific form of Root Beer.

Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, weighing all things in the balance of reason? Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful? --Zachris Topelius

technically the word "dumb" has nothing to do with intelligence or lack thereof. Just saying.

Feeling the Wis today? I had to look up the difference, knowing "(G)root" always wins.

This is true. I have a friend who used to make ginger ale and root beer and sell it at festivals. He mentioned the recipes are virtually the same. The main differences are root beer has a bit more vanilla and has caramel for coloring.

I think you will find "Root beer" is very much a north american thing, certainly not in Oz.
