Yeah, those rounded corners are such a selling feature, especially to tech people! As mentioned above, multi-monitor support is worth while. Do 3rd party Start Menu replacements work? I used Open-Shell (now Classic-Shell) and need to check if it's been updated for Win11.

I've heard that Start11 works, but, tbh, I hardly ever use the start menu - if you have a nice launcher like FlowLauncher, there's rarely ever a need for the Start Menu, and I can get to what I want quicker

I follow discussions of Win11 here and on other forums, and so far I'm not seeing any pressing need to switch. I see drawbacks and hassles, but no counter-balancing benefits that push me to switch. What are the real benefits of Win11 over Win10?

What I find as a real CRIME is that in 3 years my Lenovo P50 workstation class computer will not have a supported OS I has a 6th generation i7 processor, 32GB Ram, 2 512GB SSDs, and a 4k display. What is to become of such a capable PC ?? I have windows 10 running on an old intel motherboard with a series 4 chipset with dual Core uP, 256GB SSD, 8GB ram, intel IGP driving a 1680 x 1050 monitor and it runs pretty well. Window 11 just can be that good or that needed to trash all the capable PC out there. Total BS!

Literally nothing. In fact its just slower for me. I'm considering going back to Win10 because of performance issues with File Explorer etc.

In the long term, support for Win 10 will cease in three years time (October 2025) ... so you will need to switch by then or lose security updates.

According to MS, Win10 Enterprise LTSC 2019, which was released on 11/13/2018, has a mainstream end on 01/09/2024, and an extended end date of 01/09/2029. Given the hardware limitations, I'll be surprised if MS doesn't bend a bit on the end date for Win10, at least for Enterprise customers. I expect to replace my laptop sometime in the next 3.5 years, and by then MS will have worked out the defects in Win11, and/or third parties will have replacements available, e.g., I've been using Classic Shell to replace the Win10 menu. At this time, I'm not concerned.

Well, the multi monitor friendly features alone make it worth it. No more moving all windows back to their place when the laptop goes to sleep. If that is relevant to you, it's reason enough. Also it feels much more smooth. The whole UI experience improved quite a bit. The standard apps like explorer and notepad got noticeable improvements. Dark theme first class support too.

It is possible for this to work properly on Win 10 2 screens and a PC set to sleep after 5 mins. Every time it wakes up I login and all windows are where I left them. using a local non admin account I don't recall having to do anything special to achieve this

Windows 11 uses Intel 12th generation E-cores effectively. Basically, if you want a lot of bang for your buck, you can run Windows 11 on an i5 12600K and load it to the brim with cheap DDR4 memory for a very cheap and very powerful server. Other than doing that, I don't see the point of picking Windows 11 over Windows 10.

Never worked for me, specially if the monitor screens also turn off. Also, if you unplug the laptop from the monitors (like when going for a meeting), then coming back, the windows also come back to the original positions.
