Anyone have experience with free / cheap circuit simulators?

A project I'm working on at home has outgrown the student version of Microsim's design lab. Does anyone have any suggestions for free / nearly free electronic design packages? My project is mixed analog / digital and will end up containing about 20 chips.

Spice[^] is powerful, but complex - and unfortunately is analog only. I don't know of any free mixed-signal simulators. I use MultiSim[^], but it's not free. If you're a student, it's not too expensive. I got it for about $120 Australian (approx US$80). It does mixed-signal analysis and is very powerful, but it's a bit complex to use, and extremely slow. However, it's about the best reasonably-priced software out there. Ryan Being little and getting pushed around by big guys all my life I guess I compensate by pushing electrons and holes around. What a bully I am, but I do enjoy making subatomic particles hop at my bidding - Roger Wright (2nd April 2003, The Lounge)
