And this right here is why I lie to social media etc.....
-
FB was new (.edu only) when my kids started college. I thought “Nice. Something for the younger crowd.” Once they opened it up to all comers I knew it would lead to disaster. I’m glad to have never partaken. Same goes for Twitter, TikTok, SnapChat (is that even still a thing?). Had an Instagram account for about a month before FB bought them so I bailed.
I guess I'm not very sociable, only had FB none of the others. I prefer face to face social contact, Covid put a little bit of a crimp in that but it's coming back around.

from Samsung today.
We have taken actions to secure the affected systems, and have engaged a leading outside cybersecurity firm and are coordinating with law enforcement. We want to assure our customers that the issue did not impact Social Security numbers or credit and debit card numbers, but in some cases, may have affected information such as name, contact and demographic information, date of birth, and product registration information. The information affected for each relevant customer may vary.
I went and checked. and sure enough I lied to Samsung about my birthdate and zip code. So the information they "stole" is incorrect anyway. Why do people put their real birthdate on FB ??? I don't get it.
To err is human to really elephant it up you need a computer

Most all adults and even young children now have cell phones, they use them regularly. If the only way to communicate is FB there is something seriously wrong.

Kids abhor talking to anyone on a phone. [Edit] FTFYM
So in other words they abhor socializing except on their phones. The problem with FB and others it that they are designed to make you dance, for a better word. When you hear your phone ding/beep/whatever you dance like a trained dog to respond and see what/who is notifying you. Your self worth is defined by the number of likes you get.

Plain 'ol traditional phones are, by design, supposed to make you do exactly that. That was their only purpose. It rings, you're expected to pick up. With that understanding, out of courtesy, people don't phone others at 2am. People dancing like trained dogs, as you put it, is their own choosing (and most people make piss-poor choices in that regard). Personally, anything and everything that can have notifications turned off gets exactly that. And if that's not an option, I ain't using it. Frankly I like it better that way: You want to email me at 2am, go right ahead. The only correct expectation is that I won't get to it until I decide to check. Text? I don't even tolerate a phone set on vibrate.

Not everyone is trained, they can decide that there life and privacy are more important. What amazes me when you go to a restaurant and see a family where everyone is on a phone or tablet and not even paying attention to each other. (Just one example) Is what's on that phone or tablet more important then the family you're with?

I don't use mine very much. I always tell friends and relatives...my phone has an off button so if you can't get ahold of me you know why.
