Never change a running system...

M.D.V. ;) If something has a solution... Why do we have to worry about?. If it has no solution... For what reason do we have to worry about? Help me to understand what I'm saying, and I'll explain it better to you Rating helpful answers is nice, but saying thanks can be even nicer.

I heard from a former IBM employee (so I have no URL to back it up :-)) that there is an official term in IBM: A TF, Temporary Fix. Informally, within IBM, there is another term: PTF, a Permanent Temporary Fix...

No ! I am the best, most gullible, audience for my own lies :wtf: It's called "technical debt."

It’s not even because of evil product managers who “force” us to move on to the next feature, not “allowing” us to fix things.

Oh, yes, it often ... is !

This type of thinking leads to fear, which inhibits change.

Fear ? How about shame, guilt, and "cover-ups" ?

(Case in point: I thought about writing this post while in the shower yesterday. When I got out, I told my wife about it. She said “Go and write this post right now. Otherwise you’ll never do it”.

Liar: his wife kicked him out of the shower because there was not enough hot water for her left.
