Any GTC Attendees?
-
It's that time again - GTC is happening now. Unfortunately, it's virtual again but that is probably not going to change for a while. Is anyone else here 'attending'? The sessions I have watched so far have been mostly pretty good, mostly. I have been disappointed with every one I about AI, so far. That's because they were nothing but marketing hype with very little of interesting substance. It's pretty obvious that is where Nvidia's focus is because, according to them, the market is really booming right now and nearly all of their products are focused on it. Personally, I think they are generating a lot of over-expectations right now that might come back to haunt them, especially if it takes a while for the real killer app to emerge. I am primarily focused on HPC and the sessions on enhancements to C++'s support of parallelism have been fascinating.

I really wish my toolchains weren't crusty. I'd love to be dabbling in bleeding edge C++ but I also have to be careful where I spend my time. I only have so many years left, so until my toolchains support the newer standards, I'm at C++17. :((
