I have WSL installed, but would like some feedback on preferred Linux distro to run. List (not exhaustive or detailed but reasonable sample) Ubuntu Debian kali-linux (never heard of this one) OracleLinux SUSE-Linux

I run Ubuntu both 18.04 and 22.04 without any problem. Normally I stick to LTS versions to avoid hassle.

If you only need a lightweight Linux, Alpine Linux might be a good choice. It is used frequently for Docker development and distributions.

I have been using WSL with Ubuntu for some time and it works great. It's also integrated with Visual Studio code which is an added bonus.

I don't think Alpine is officially supported with WSL. I believe MS's general stance on this sort of thing is among the line of "if it works, great, but if you run into problems, you're on your own". Which might be fine depending where one is coming from.

Maybe this distribution: GitHub - yuk7/AlpineWSL: Alpine Linux based WSL distribution. Supports multi-install. Lightest WSL distribution.[^] And this might be interesting too: successfully-connect-alpine-wsl-2-to-docker-desktop-2-2[^] And this describes an installation from the Windows Store: Andrew Davis - Modern Windows Workflow with WSL2, Alpine Linux, and Oh My Zsh[^]
