Was interesting and extremely happy to watch the live feed of India's Chandrayaan mission, with the lander making a soft landing near the South Pole of the moon. Hearty congratulations to Team ISRO. Did any of you watch it?

Well, India is doing better than Russia so far in these ventures. No, I did not watch it. However, I am happy for India regarding this accomplishment. Russia's latest attempt at Moon landing fails. India will try again this week : NPR[^]

It's certainly an impressive achievement by ISRO. Unfortunately, I was busy at the time and couldn't watch the live coverage.

yes made a point of viewing . was hoping to see history in the making . expected to see the lunar surface approach until touchdown but the terminus was a mere simulation . also Indian Space Research Organisation[^] merely played endless videos of the launch as it is still doing . overall rather disappointing .

Hope the expectation is not of a cameraman being there capturing the soft landing. What we saw on YouTube was that both the horizontal and vertical velocities gradually became zero.

As it was for the USA's first moon landing in 1969, 'cause no one was already on the surface to film it. (And that's what the moon landing conspiracy folks use as "evidence" that it was faked. :sigh: )

Not live, but I watched the shots from its approach, and this morning the clip of the rover going down the ramp and onto the surface. That's an awesome accomplishment! Congrats to the ISRO!

i assumed a camera would have been placed at bottom of lander . prior to the switch to the simulation a presomably live shot of the lunar surface was shown . i do not know where that camera was mounted but i believe i would have preferred its view to the simulation . why they made the switch makes no sense to me .
