Finding beta testers

I'm looking for suggestions on how to find beta testers for a new product. I'm thinking of doing three successive rounds of external test. The first round would be a smaller set of more technically oriented testers. The second round would be a larger set of people including more intermediate type users. The third round would be the largest set including novice users. Thoughts?
