        Correct, assuming that original light is always red. But if you see a blue light, you probably exceeding a speed limit.

            About a week if you find a steep enough hill. Tyre damage may occur at those speeds however - you might want to check the pressures really carefully before trying.

                Thats hilarious! You gave me a good laugh with that one. Is that the actual velocity you'd need to travel in order to shift a red light to a green light? There is one issue I see with driving that fast through an intersection, though. That velocity is about 1/7th the speed of light. If you drive that fast, your dashboard clock will tick at the same rate as it would if you're stationary, but to an outside observer, the speed of time is accelerated (relatively). If there was a cop watching the intersection to catch speeders, he'd become elderly, senile, and die of old age by the time you arrive at the light. Likewise, if you're driving to a destination that requires you to arrive at a certain time, that may be a problem. It would be polite to phone the person whom you are meeting with to let them know you'll be a few decades late. If you speed up to get there sooner, you'll just arrive even later. If you could accelerate up to the speed of light then time would come to a stop. You'd never reach the intersection at all. You'd just explode like a 50-megaton nuclear bomb. That would wipe out every traffic light within a 75-mile radius. You can't run a red light if it doesn't exist, right? Problem solved.

                  hmmm, at that speed, inside the atmosphere, you would burst into flames and rapidly be turned into ash. You might say that you would have made an Ash-Of-Yourself. I'll see my self out ....

                    What would happen if a housefly hit your windshield at 114 million miles per hour? Let's say that a housefly has a mass of 12 mg. The shockwave alone would atomize the car and everything in it. How would you explain that to your car insurance company? At 114,000,000 mph, your velocity is 183,000,000 kph. The housefly's mass in kg is 0.012. I'm not entirely sure I have my units correct, but if they are, the result is 2,196,000 newtons of force. From there, it gets murky. How much time elapses from when the housefly makes initial contact with the windshield to when the housefly penetrates through the other side of the glass? How much force is exerted on the windshield if the housefly penetrates through the glass like it was a sheet of crape paper? I have no clue, but 2 million newtons of force is a lot. That's well over the amount of thrust exerted by the Space Shuttle's main engine at lift-off.

I remember learning that the correlation of acceleration to time dilation isn't directly proportional. I remember seeing it graphed. Any significant difference in time dilation only happens when acceleration is something like 70% of c. At that point, the graph appears to show something resembling more of an exponential relationship. Can you share any insight on what would happen when a housefly impacts the car's windshield at 114,000,000 mph? When I estimated the force of impact, there were far too many ambiguous variables to really be specific. For instance, I didn't include any aerodynamic and atmospheric conditions. Barometric pressure, current wind speed and direction, the specific altitude above sea level, and the oppositional velocity of the housefly... all that stuff.

                              Time dilation/length contraction[^] glad i put a smile on your face . relativistic mass of fly is gamma * rest mass so 12.18 mg KE = 1/2 m v^2 so 15,815,350,427.406 J speed of 1kg object w\ same KE is 5,624.118 meters/s all that other stuff i did not read about in 8th grade ,

                                I'd also be wary of the brakes - the stopping distance from those speeds is going to about 122,943,292,246 miles (or 1322 AU if you prefer) according to the Highway Code. Although modern brakes are much more efficient than those HC was based on, some significant brake fade is to be expected. If a child runs out unexpectedly in front of you from behind Pluto, I suspect you are going to kill him / her.
