I'm not advertising a job. Do you get the idea of asking a plumber to fix a leaking pipe? Do you understand the difference? If you have nothing constructive to say, please keep quiet.

Maybe looking for a candidate not totally inappropriate, but you answer is!!! Be polite and do not 'quiet' others because of their opinion...

Telling me my question is inappropriate is reason enough for telling that person to be quiet when they clearly have no idea. Seriously, I thought that codeproject was frequented by people who liked to help other people: I am tasked with finding a software solution to a business problem; I am NOT offering a full time position. I require the services of someone with better programming/development skills than myself; and what better place to ask than a forum of developers and programmers - seemed the logical choice to me. Old Albert in the pub who used to program his ZX Spectrum just won't cut it. If you are telling me that this isn't the place to ask for the help of someone's services (which they will be compensated for their time and solution at an agreed rate) then please point me to the correct place and stop being so negative.

As the title says, I was looking for a developer to develop a bespoke software solution. However, it appears that this is not the correct place.

I'm certain that such packages exist already. Have you tried looking for them? SAP etc. would probably be too expensive for a 20-person company, but I'm certain that there are programs that can handle most of what you need. Inventory, purchasing, invoicing, programs for small businesses definitely exist. Look for accounting software for small companies. Costings and BOM - probably. The question is whether they can be linked. A bespoke solution is a non-trivial task and would probably cost quite a lot of time and money.

Finally and fair play would have been: Strike out the original text and then add the rephrased text. Like this readers could have a picture about the original thread discussion!

Since you ask: this is not the place to ask for personal help or recruiting developers. There are plenty of websites that offer such services, this is not one of them.

There are sites, other than this, which actually do just that.
