Just got SW:KOTR, oh and an Xbox

Yeah I didn't even have an Xbox but I saw Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic in a store and had to get one :) Now I can't wait to get home and play, I am just at work now *going through the motions*. I hope this game rules! I wish Microsoft would open up the development on the XBOX I mean why can't garage developers program for it? I can't imagine paying $10K for the SDK just to poke around and make a cube on the screen. Code4Food ---- "There is no try; only do or do not" -Yoda

Before you know it people are saying "yeah, it's a good console, but for every ten games out there, only two are good." Way back when, that was something thing that hurt the atari.
tidge wrote: Way back when, that was something thing that hurt the atari I saw an article on this. What was funny is one of the games they mentioned that was crap was ET for the 2600 I use to love playing that game :) I was only 6-7 at the time. But it can also help the platform. If it is developed by garage developers and they published it themselves how is that to hurt the XBOX only the good ones would rise to the top. This would be like shareware for the PC. No one is complaining about the barriers to writing games on the PC. Anyways look at some of the great games that came out of a garage! *cough* Wolfenstein, Doom */cough* Code4Food ---- "There is no try; only do or do not" -Yoda

Stroke that ego... I started there just over a month ago. I will be part of the Star Wars for PC team. Tim Smith I'm going to patent thought. I have yet to see any prior art.
 The first thing I did when I got my copy was to check the credits to see if you had been there long enough to make it :) James "I despise the city and much prefer being where a traffic jam means a line-up at McDonald's" Me when telling a friend why I wouldn't want to live with him

Well was he? I am still at work going through some *VB* code :( Another hour and I can go home and hook up the XBOX and play. If he's in the credits that would be nice. Code4Food ---- "There is no try; only do or do not" -Yoda

Yeah, I've seen E.T. added to that list of crappy games, but I know I played it a lot. There were a ton of crappy games, but I'd say the real culprits were the big food companies. BurgerTime was a hit, and before you know it you have games with little dog food chuck wagons driving across the screen with no apparent purpose other than to burn the image into your head. So here is my thinking. I'm guessing that they are trying to avoid what happened in the late 80's. They don't want people saying "Yeah, there are some good games for the XBox, but there are some real stinkers too. Now the Playstation....all their games rock!" I could see how it would be possible to think that, however I don't agree with it. I think today's console consumers are a little better aware of what's going on, than they were 20 - 30 years ago, and I think we have the rise of the computer and computer games to thank for that. So, I can see what they are probably thinking but I don't agree with it. I'd like to get my hands on an SDK too. Also as was mentioned in other posts, it may just be a money thing. Microsoft knows there are people that would be willing to buy the sdk.
