      Meh... entirely possible something in that pre-fetch folder is corrupted and making stuff take longer. It's also likely to go right back in there if it needs to be there.

        Agreed. The prefetch folder can get stale, especially after multiple updates to applications. Clearing it out will allow Windows to identify the correct programs to load there.

          The best performance booster... upgrade back to windows 7 :-D I know... I know... It was just a joke... wasn't it?
