Friend's business use Windows client VPN (or whatever it is called) to connect to routers via L2TP/IP Sec. One road warrior just had to replace an SSD so upgraded to W11. Everyone else still on 10 (or Mac and Linux). They configured his machine (remotely) and couldn't connect. I tested his credentials here on a W10 VM and it worked, but on a W11 VM it refused to connect. It authenticated but then timed out. I am only 50 miles away but the system in question is in So. America. After moogieing around, removing and recreating the user (I don't think this had anything to do with it), it connects almost every time from here. After connecting his system wired instead of WiFi, it connects "most of the time" for him. I suspect: 1. Timing delay between the Auth OK and response causing the router to miss the response (if it is sent). More susceptible on WiFi. 2. There is no retry if it is missed, it just waits the usual 45 seconds and times out. Very helpful error message: "it failed to connect". He never saw this with W10 on his system. Anyone seen such when switching to W11? Maybe just a red herring. Bothers me that I had trouble with my W11 VM, very rarely used, I am (sorta) retired. will have to do some more testing when I get a round tuit.

The recreation of the account might have played more role than obvious. Like if it was bowling or throwing darts or something, maybe it was just too busy.
