Yeah, what? It isn't 2038 yet, is it?

Oh, good. Then maybe they'll stop messing with it and let me be.

@theoldfool The hype is certainly similar. I remember all the doom and gloom articles. In 1999 I worked for United Healthcare on automated medical claims payment software. We had a guy there that got a house generator, several 55 gal drums of fuel, stockpiled food and whatnot. I asked him how many guns he had. When he connected the dots his eyes got big.

Now, all the articles I read seem to indicate that on the 14th my wife's Win 10 laptop will just up and die. No, it just won't get updated anymore. I'd put Linux on it but she has no interest in that. It has no sensitive data on it, she only occasionally surfs or does Word or Excel docs so she'll just use it till it dies. She does most of her online stuff on her phone anyway. If she ever needs a Windows PC I'll spin up my Win 11 VM.

I moved in June and I just haven't gotten around to hooking my Win 10 PC up again. I will eventually.

On a similar note, the Win 8 tablet thingy I have still runs Zoom just fine. (But Chrome and Edge refuse to run on it.)

Compared to Y2K or 2038, an OS that no longer gets support is a complete non-event (IMNSHO). Even if it's the most popular of MS's Windows versions still out there.

I still have a few machines running Windows 7.
