      "Lad" is fine, but "applad"?

@pkfox Ha! I got it! I showed my guess in your original post but I didn't look at the solution here until after I made my guess.

I don't think lad for boy is too English. AFAIK it's pretty common here in the US.

Now, BARBICAN, is an entirely different matter. Even had I put all the pieces of that clue together I would have rejected the result as not a word. :P

I'll post tomorrow's before I turn in tonight so you'll have it early am your time. Ok?

Go for it - there is a four hour limit on it but as you're in the states :-)

Yeah. I googled it when I saw the original answer. Until then I had never heard the word. I learn more things by accident than I ever did intentionally (not really true.,but it feels like it sometimes). I seem to remember the accidents better for some reason.

Not too long ago, I watched some videos about parts of a castle, so a barbican is something in my experience.

@pkfox Obviously, when I said tomorrow's I meant Monday's. I started to post one last night but at the last second I realized it was Saturday, so I'll wait.

It'll probably be posted around 6am your time give or take so you won't have to wait until after lunch to start on it, but I won't be up to confirm guesses until then. I'll try to check in as early as I can but I'm too lazy to set an alarm these days. 😴
