Hey all, As the comsumate rebel I always try to avoid conventions like "dates" to determine when something like summer has come and gone. Would it be in poor taste to declare the end of summer based on the kids being back in school? I'm thinking that would be rude seeing as how not all kids are back yet (they go early here). I was thinking I would be able to detect the end of summer by the loss of green in the foliage but then again, I have to consider that tree I'm most likely to consider is the one the dogs (have two) consider as a fire hydrant and it is always looking like its in the late stages of fall. Should I judge the end of summer by my arthritis (this raises the question of if I have arthritis or are those sore knuckles the result of braining my brother last week?) Is it just me or does the weight of a season going by weigh more now with age (and acid reflux - or is that just the four slices of double pepperoni pizza I had for dinner:~ ) than at youth? Just looking for some thoughts -m --------------------------------------------- huh? If they don't get the basic research and learning skills down then they'll end up having a very hard life (Either that or they'll become managers) - Micheal P Butler

Maybe therapy is the answer but its hard to claim today that summer is a time of year as opposed to a setting on my watch. Just kinda thought that idea sucked is all. Although as opposed to therapy, I do have a little over a week scheduled in Bermuda this time next month :) --------------------------------------------- huh? It was not the Mel Feik Summer Theory that had me reaching for the telephone but rather the Other Bits you slipped in between those dangerous brackets.

Hey Mel, haven't heard from you in awhile.:) Mel Feik wrote: Is it just me or does the weight of a season going by weigh more now with age (and acid reflux - or is that just the four slices of double pepperoni pizza I had for dinner) than at youth? Well, for me, the weight of the season going by is only marginally different now than when I was a kid (wait I'm only 22) but it seems like time moves faster than it used to. The only way I can explain it is that I'm either working on stuff that I really enjoy or I'm overburdened with work and it seems impossible that I'll ever get all of it done on time. Either way, I'm just glad I'm not making pizzas anymore.:) Brad Jennings Northeast US vacation (Aug. 10)[^] - please give me suggestions.:)

Each day is different and unique...sometimes in small ways, and other times very noticeably. Enjoy them while you can - no matter what season. Maybe I'm odd, but I never understood people's fascination with labelling things. I don't care what season it is particularly, just what the temperature and weather are like! The seasons change gradually, and each year is different. However, once more than half the leaves from the trees in your garden are on the ground, and the heat has started to subside, you can probably bet you are into autumn, a rather nice part of the year as well :)

I make fun of my old job, but there were some things I liked about it. You get to work with cool people and the male/female ratio is at least equal if not more women than men due to waitresses and women cooks. The stupid things we did during the dead times were fun too. But most importantly, a cook does not go hungry, as long as the manager isn't looking.:) Brad Jennings I like pancakes!

I know it, but I've never been comfortable about it. The only labels I'm happy with are those I use to describe myself...but they feel more like adjectives than "labels"... There's a minority in the trans-community who will label others as "not TS" if they don't conform to their ideas of what a transsexual person should be, and such behaviour causes great harm and distress, as it can cause the vulnerable to lose faith in themselves and question who they are. I have a big problem with that. The only people truly able to know who each of us is are ourselves. Others can only help us to see what's there, and its certainly not their place to judge.
