Full Text indexing/searching libraries
-
hello, I'm looking for a FullText Indexing/searching library (dll or activeX, or OCX). I've found some comercial ones (like dtSearch) but very expensive and with (big) royalties. The library I need must be royalties free. Does anybody know some lib or code ? (it is for an electronic document management system). Thank you very much. Guy LECOMTE PS: Sory for the bad previous entry in the lounge.

You should check Freshmeat.net. They list hundred or thousand of open source projects, some of them related to your problem, a good number of them working on Windows. From memory, there is at least Namazu which have a Windows version (http://www.namazu.org/). Also check Glimpse and Mifluz. I didn't tried these, but I keep an eye on them... --._.·´¯`·._.·´¯`·._.·´¯`·._.·´¯`·._.·´¯`·._.·´¯`·._.-- Philippe Lhoste (Paris -- France) Professional programmer and amateur artist http://jove.prohosting.com/~philho/ --´¯`·._.·´¯`·._.·´¯`·._.·´¯`·._.·´¯`·._.·´¯`·._.·´¯`--

Hehehe, I can understand "australien" and "See U Soon", but what does the rest of it mean? - Anders Money talks, but all mine ever says is "Goodbye!"

rough translation: He thanked him for his help and remarked that it was ironic that they are both Parisians and yet they meet on an Australian site.

If you decide to use SQL Server and its Full Text Indexing, let me know. I wrote an article some time ago for developer.com on how to set this up and use it. If you want, I'll dig it out and send it to you.

You can find Mifluz at http://www.gnu.org/software/mifluz/ I haven't tried it either, but it looks interesting. The documentation seems reasonably thorough, which is a pleasant change for compared to manu Open Source projects IMHO. Neville Franks, Author of ED for Windows http://www.getsoft.com
