I may or may not have mentioned my younger sister's wedding reception plans here. She want guests to wear Halloween costumes.:~ I also have a medieval dinner coming up. I never wear costumes for the simple reason I suck at it. X| Anyone have ideas for homemade outfits? Last time I rented, everyone else looked much better in made costumes. I try to think but nothing happens.

I've assisted a costumed anniversary the last week-end, and my "Edward scissorhands" costume was quiet well appreciated. I tried to look like this[^]. Nothing difficult for the makeup or the clothes, the tricky parts were for the hands. I took an empty platic bottle of washing liquid, and cut the claws along it with a cutter. I painted them with Tamiya paint ref. X10, Gun Metal. Then I fixed the claws on fingers of washing gloves with colored scotch tape, and put also scotch tape all around the gloves. I added some plastic fibers, 2 metallic rings to simulate the end of the scissors, and covered all with paint. The main inconvenient of this costume is that it's really hard to drink or eat with such gloves, but after some tries and help of friends, it was possible. For the medieval outfit, the easiest is to take old jute bags and a piece of cord, and try to do this[^] Good luck!

If you don't like dancing I'd suggest a big, round pumpkin :-D

Two words... ZORO! (ok it was one word but hey) Mexican's are also pretty cool.

One of the better ideas that I've ever seen was a man dressed in completely plain clothes and a medium size cardboard box with the front panel cut out on his head. The box had some make-shift curtains pulled to either side and a tin can with a few dollar bills stuck in it. He had a sign around his neck that read "Kissing Booth - $1". Very popular with the women as the night progressed and the alchohol flowed. -Mike Zinni "Don't take life too seriously, you'll never make it out alive" - Van Wilder

One year in college, I went as Arthur Dent and my brother went as a Nexus 6. It made costuming quite easy, even if nobody had a clue what we were talking about. Joe Woodbury When all else fails, there's always delusion. - Conan O'Brien

If you want to piss your sister off - go as a divorce attorney or an oddsmaker (10 to 1 the marriage doesn't last 7 years)! How about the "father of the bride" who is an accountant - you could go around with a calculator adding up the bill for the reception as everyone gets food, drink and merriment. If I wanted to piss her off, I could go as "smash-faced sick-drunk brother", (ie Daphne's brother on Frasier) I try to think but nothing happens.

                      Go as a dictator. . . . . . . . . . . . All you need is a hollowed out potato and a very unusual place to put it.
