Is c++ really best?

Welcome to CP, Erin. :) You're one of the few women to grace this site with their presence. You can spot the others by either their names (although Trollslayer [Elaine], is not so obvious until you see her name in her sig) or by their frequent use of girly language (e.g. "hon" or "awww cute") and the ever so feminine :rose: emoticon. ;) So, tell us a little bit about yourself. :) (Oh, and I must disagree with you...Ken Childs is not sexy. ;P)
Hawaian shirts and shorts work too in Summer. People assume you're either a complete nut (in which case not a worthy target) or so damn good you don't need to worry about camouflage... -Anna-Jayne Metcalfe on Paintballing

not that "what is the fuel consumption of this thing?" would ever come into the equation when buying a Ferrari. when I get my Enzo one day I will send you the figures. ;) regards, Paul Watson Bluegrass South Africa Miszou wrote: I have read the entire internet. on how boring his day was. So you want to know more about me? I'm a college student and I plan on majoring in Criminal Justice. I'm a closet computer dork. I'm originally from New York, but I currently live in North Carolina. Anything else you wanna know just ask. By the way....how exactly would you know if Ken is sexy or not? lol

JDunlap, your analogies just don't work for me. Of course a rubber mallet is better. You can whack a mole and play croquet with a rubber mallet, you can't with a hammer, so obviousl a RM is better. A Ferrari is still better than a 4x4... ;p regards, Paul Watson Bluegrass South Africa Miszou wrote: I have read the entire internet. on how boring his day was. Crikey! ain't life grand?

But you can share and keep it yourself, both at the same time.
//C#
private CIceCream cone = new CIceCream("chocolate");
public CIceCream IceCream
{
get
{
return cone.Clone();
}
}"Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God." - Jesus
"You must be the change you wish to see in the world." - Mahatma GandhiBetter yet, you could keep yours and share it in any flavor. :)
private IceCream<Flavor> cone = new IceCream<Flavor>(Chocolate);
public IceCream<Flavor F> Cone
{
get
{
return cone.Clone(F);
}
}Keep in mind that I have no clue if this is proper generics syntax...seeing as how I have no access to Whidbey and all...:(

Kinda defeats the point though, don't it? I mean, you want to just give them a slap and tickle, not crush their skulls. They can't fit that many moles in a box you know and if you keep killing them, they have to keep stopping you, emptying the box and then refilling them. Your sledge though *is* good for a bit of lettingoutfiretruckingfrustrationsfromhavingdaftclientswhowantsearchbuttonsnotonsearchformsbutsomewhereelsejustnotonthesearchformofcoursesologicalyeahright venting. regards, Paul Watson Bluegrass South Africa Miszou wrote: I have read the entire internet. on how boring his day was. Oh. Ever considered hiring a hypnotist to sit in on design discussions with you? Somehow, i could see it being useful... Paul: So anyway, we've placed this beautiful button, right on the bottom left of the form, where it'll handy for the users should they get themselves all worked up into a real "pressing" mood. Client: No, no... i think my original plan of putting the search button on the whackamole easter egg game is the way to go. Paul: Alex? Alex the Hypnotist: Please, keep your eyes on the watch... you are feeling sleepy, very sleepy... your eyelids are soooo heavy... you will listen to Paul in regards to the placement of the search button... you will also give up your idea of outfitting customers with complementary rubber mallets in case they find the whackamole easter egg. Client: Bwack bwack bwack bwack <clucks softly and tries to lay an egg> ...or not... :~

Erin wrote: I'm a closet computer dork. nuttin wrong with that :) It's taken years for other closet ummmmmm people to come out publicly. When I can talk about 64 bit processors and attract girls with my computer not my car, i'll come out of the closet. Until that time...i'm like "What's the ENTER key?" :confused: Erin wrote: By the way....how exactly would you know if Ken is sexy or not? Depends on yer definition of sexy I suppose...i'd assume buddy came to the conclusion based on the fact that most sexy people never develope or desire the intelligence for anything, relying on their looks to get them by. Really sux, for me...not them. Cheers :) I'm drinking triples, seeing double and acting single :cool:

Best for what? Programming languages are tools. Pick the best tool for the job.
This is true, but it depends on why your programming. If your doing it for fun...I think C++ makes sense(if you love it)...if you have a deadline or budget...then...writting scripts in PHP or whatever makes sense...half the work, same effect. Cheers I'm drinking triples, seeing double and acting single :cool:

Hi, I am just wondering about this. Everyone you speak to says c++ is best. Is it actually, when you consider that it precompiles all code to c, before compiling? If that is true, then surely you would be able to do everything c++ can do in c. So, thinking of that, c should be faster. I am not trying to start an argument, but its just a question.
C++ compilers pre process some parts to C, takinng out work for the programmer. An example is overloaded functions. Elaine :rose: The tigress is here :-D

Why being limited to one ice cream? It's more flexible:
public std::vector< IceCream<Flavor> >;

Yeah so this is probably a little too late to be replying to, but the internet server went down last night here. I have to say that Ken childs fits into my definition of sexy. In fact he's so sexy, that he's a sexy beast. :-D Well anyways, thank you for welcoming me to code project. :)
