i have just downloaded and tested the newest version of IE. It has the famous dialog box for accepting every ActiveX control in the page. it sucks. X| Have any of you seen it? here is the link http://msdn.microsoft.com/ieupdate/[^]. After that i was thinking if it is legal to write a program that just do de click for us. Just set a windows hook to see if there a window creation, test if it just has a static and a button (or something like that) and programmaticaly push the button. "I don't want to achieve immortality through my work... There's no way I'm going to download a browser that asks me if I want to load an ActiveX control. I'd rather have a browser that doesn't support ActiveX altogether. I'm hoping that the company suing MSFT sees how ridiculous this is and changes their mind.

I agree totally. Just don't download it! You don't have to. MS can comply with the suit, and we can keep our old version of IE. There isn't going to be any major new updates to it anyway.

I wonder about making a workaround for the MS workaround ? Kill the dialog with a 'ok' response before it is even shown ? :-) Regardz Colin J Davies

You could probably do that with a BHO that sets a CBT hook. (Sounds like an article idea  ) --Mike-- Ericahist | CP SearchBar v2.0.2 | Homepage | RightClick-Encrypt | 1ClickPicGrabber #include "witty-quote.h"

the problem is that in some point of time they will make an automatic update of IE. Or even worse add some new feature to the IE and if you want it you must update. "I don't want to achieve immortality through my work... I want to achieve it through not dying." Woody Allen

What, a control that downloads a manifest from Microsoft's website and compares it to what's installed? Nah, couldn't possibly :-D

My browser is set up to prompt me in any case. It's irritating at first, but you get used to it. At least I feel a percentage point safer when browsing. Woke up this morning...and got myself a blog

Just out of curiosity, how does this affect people in countries who (AFAIK) don't have this particular patent issue?
