I don't have info' on sony dsc-p10, but I do have Nikon Coolpix 3100, its compact, travel friendly overall good, though I have some gripes about cameras using AA batteries. If you can stay away from AA/AAA batteries it would be better. The normal AA (Alkaline) cannot be used(technically can be, but it would come only for a few shots, less than 10 minutes while operating on LCD). Regards, Kannan

Hi. You'll probably have seen it, but you have a review here. http://www.imaging-resource.com/PRODS/P10/P10A.HTM[^] Just a comment on the megapixels fever. You only need the 5 megapixels if you are going to print photos on B size. For letter size, 4 megapixels is more than enough. I have a Canon Powershot S400 and I am very happy with it. I have printed many photos on letter size and there is no problem with the resolution. The main restriction in these cases is the jpeg compression, but that problem can be solved by not using it and buying a 256Mb card. Regards. Francisco Viella Silver at last!!

I bought a DSC P52 (3.2 MP, 2x optical zoom, the rest is equal P10) this weekend, and all I can say is that I'm a very, very, very, very, very, very satisfied customer (bear in mind I'm not a photo genius like Paul Watson). For my use, 3MP is more than enough, I don't intend to print anything bigger than A4. Tom's hardware guide have put this picture that' worth more than 1,000 words about megapixels: http://www20.tomshardware.com/consumer/20030709/images/formats.jpg I just want to add that the default memory stick sucks. With a 3MP camera you absolutely need a 128MB memory stick, and with a 5MP camera you surely need a 256MB memory stick. After all, you're buying a high-res camera, so, what's the point of taking 1MP or VGA pictures on a 5MP camera, just because you don't have enough space for them? So, don't forget to spare some money for a big memory stick... [edit]Oh, and I forgot: The rechargeable batteries (6 hour charge) included can handle at least 60 pictures with flash, and an enourmous picture number without flash[/edit]

As has been said, have a look at DPReview. Specifically look at camera's in around the same price range which aren't Sony's. I love my Sony, but am not happy with things like the price of memory sticks, extra lenses, etc (although the P10 probably won't take extras like that). Still, the Sony's are super camera's if you don't mind the price thing, and the P10 should bring you a lot of happy memories if you decide to go with it :).

I've had a Nikon CoolPix 990 for a couple of years and absolutely love it... I use it to take photos for my Bonsai club that you can see on: http://www.shofubonsai.com[^] My next digital will probably be a Nikon D100: http://www.nikonusa.com/usa_product/product.jsp?cat=1&grp=2&productNr=25206[^] Digital Photography Review is an excellent site for investigating digital cameras... http://www.dpreview.com/[^] Steven J.
