Greets all, I was just wondering if anyone knows if Win2K supports anti-alias fonts or smooth fonts? In WinXP it's supported via teh Clear-Type option but I can't seem to find anything similar in Win2K. I'm using an app called IntelliJ which does support smooth fonths in the application but I want to have it enabled in the general Windows GUI like WinXP. Any help or suggestions are appreciated. .:. Cleartype is only part of Windows XP editions. And even when it's activated, it's useless without a flat monitor.

Thanks for the info! Just out of curiousity, why wouldn't it be effective without a flat screen monitor? .:. Keno .:.

Subpixel anti-aliasing is supported by GDI+.

Okeno Palmer wrote: why wouldn't it be effective overview[^] flat monitors have 3 times more internal width than non flat monitors, compared with the same resolution (1024 x 768 for instance). Cleartype (and Apple's smooth fonts) take advantage of that.

In Display Properties, go to the Effects tab and check 'Smooth edges of screen fonts'. This only works at certain font sizes - typically above 12pt and below 6pt for most fonts. It's done by using grey pixels around the edges. I usually turn this setting on because it looks nicer at larger sizes, IMO.
