I was just reading Jeremy Falcon's article on number systems. It just accured to me that my native tribal language uses precisely base10, not in writing(there's no written form),but in speaking. FIRST TEN DIGITS: 1:yeala ,2:faylay,3:sawa,4:naanee,5:lawluu,6:waytah,7:wahflaa,8:wayagpah,9:tahluu,10:puuh. PLACE METHOD: 11:puuh mahnuu yeala(this literally translates to 10 plus 1...see the bold words above). but ofcourse as u can see me and my people would be screwed pretty quickly if we had to deal with large magnitudes. The language btw is MENDE.

Interesting; was that derived from the Arabic counting methods, as our numbering system was? Does it include a concept of zero as a placeholder? Sierra Leone, or Liberia[^]? "Your village called -
      They're missing their idiot."

I really don't know,i know there have been long interraction between arabia and africa...but i doubt it. It doesn't have the concept of a zero.
