Hey all, just got back from home for the holiday. The food was delicious, mom makes some damn good homemade food. Got to see lots of extended family and finally fixed my car. Overall a really good weekend, and a much needed break from school. How was you alls weekend? Brad Jennings Sonork: 100.36360 AIM: hongg99
The weekend was good but never long enough. My little one came home a day early! Her prof noticed there test was the only thing keeping her and said she could come into the office to take it a day early if she promised to then leave immediatly and not say anything. She agreed :) Also a cousin sent me a genealogy research report he had paid for and it proved some family connection back to the old country for anouther 3 generations. Only missing one pair of G-G-G-Grandparents! Even found Jane Smiths family this last year! "Don't be so anti-american, would you? KaЯl (to Paul Watson on Baseball Bats) 26 Nov '03 "

Brad Jennings wrote: How was you alls weekend? Mine sucked. I had to go to the PRC for it; on the way a truck turned over ahead of me, closing the highway for two hours. While parked on the Interstate a fiberglass truck cover came unstuck ( we were enjoying 70+ mph winds at the time ) and destroyed the top of my pickup's cab, but it was impossible to reach the side of the road to discuss insurance issues. The smog was so thick that my eyes immediately swelled shut, and I could barely breathe. A gasoline truck tried to suddenly occupy the space I was using without benefit of a turn signal, so I had to do some quick maneuvering to evade a fiery death. The turkey was great, it was fun to spend time with family, but all in all, I'd much rather spend the holiday alone. I told my mother as much, and asked her not to count on me to show up for Christmas; the guilt machine is in high gear. I never again, as long as I may live, want to visit the Peoples' Republic of California. It has nothing to offer anyone, except overcrowding, smog, excessive taxes, and communist laws... My home is well on the way to becoming a third world nation... I'm so ashamed.:( "Your village called -

Get your mom to move to Flagstaff maybe. My kids came home to me this time so not traveling was great. "Don't be so anti-american, would you? KaЯl (to Paul Watson on Baseball Bats) 26 Nov '03 "

Mine was somewhat variable :) It was a mix between writing the software for my next CP article (part 2 of my logging series) and laying a new hardwood floor. I can't believe how tenacious the glue is. I got some in my hair (don't ask) and given that my hair is past shoulder length that's a fair amount of hair to be worrying about. I reckon another month of showers and it'll wash out. I sure hope so. On the plus side. This is the first time I've tried to lay a floor and it looks fantastic! I found it very difficult, though, to think in inches. Hell I grew up on inches before Australia went metric but the mental gymnastics involved in dividing a 114" and 3/8ths length by 42" and coming up with a reasonable partial length were very debilitating. I found myself converting from inches to metric, doing the math in metric and converting back to inches :) Another plus. We had salmon for dinner. After years of use, I have a pretty good concept of metric distance, temperature, and volume measurements but still have a little trouble with metric mass measurement. I don't think anybody in my family has ever gotten one of the geneology reports that you can buy but on my grandpa's side we have some family written geneology that goes back to my G-G-G-Grandparents (maybe farther, I haven't looked at it too closely). Apparently we've been in N. America for quite some time because there is no sign that any of the named persons in it immigrated to the US. Michael A. That's nice that your daughter got to come home early, usually the profs like to keep everybody until the last minute (at least at my school anyway). Brad Jennings Sonork: 100.36360 AIM: hongg99

:-D :-D :-D It was incredible Lauren! Madiba was just amazing, I will remember that moment for the rest of my life. It was a perfect Cape Town summers eve. Got there about 4pm and it was scorching hot, we had seats in the stands luckily and parked off till 7pm when the show started. They had African drummers and DJs and all sorts up till then as the crowds streamed in. The show started as the sun touched the rim of the stadium and ended about 12:30. It was pretty awesome seeing Bono on stage with the evening star hanging above the stage and then later a crescent moon. It was just a very cool evening, Cape Town rocks :-D regards, Paul Watson Bluegrass South Africa Brian Welsch wrote: "blah blah blah, maybe a potato?" while translating my Afrikaans.
