Hey guys, I am going to Las Vegas with some friends tomorrow night!:-D...and it is my first time! I was wondering what are some stuff you recommend to do in Vegas to have fun? We are going to stay in Circus Circus hotel! I know, i know its for kids but thats where we could get some good deals... And do you know how long it is with a car from there to Los Angeles. We may go there as well! Any suggestion, comments appreciated! A happy camper, Damon

What? Everyone that goes to vegas gets married. Hollywood says so, so it must be true.

That depens are you the wild party person or just play it low key.... My recommendations... Club: The Beach... Awesome place, mainly people go there early morn (2AM) a lot of people reccomended this place to me... (Total party atmosphere) The "Other" Clubs :-O : Crazy Horse Too Right next to Circus circus there is a place that has $1 table blackjack at night and really cheap drinks. Want to say it's called "Slots of Fun" it's right outside the main entrance to your right looking at the strip. Buffet: Rio's Buffet of the world highly reccomended... Just walk down(Actually up) and visit every hotel/casino they are all pretty amazing. I like New York/New York and Luxor. Another fun place to eat is ESPN sports zone where you can sit in a recliner get served food and watch a wall with around 40 different sports shows on. It's cool. Need more :-D EDIT: Don't miss the bellagio(spelling) water show. Very cool and the Forum shops at Ceasers Palace are cool too (And they have a cool animatronic show there but it was closed a month ago and think they said it would be through christmas)

Awesome! I went for my first time in 2001 (In November cause they offered amazing deals because of Sept 11th, It was SO empty) but since then I have been back 5 or so more times and end up spending my vacation there. You'll enjoy it, it's like no place on earth. Final suggestion, Make sure to get a big drink and take it with you while walking down the strip just because you can. (I don't know of really anyother places in the US that let you just walk around and drink so it's kinda one of those "do it while you have the chance things" Now I'm all excited and want to go again hehe

Los Angeles is about 270 miles and 4:30 hours from Las Vegas assuming you don't hit much traffic coming into the general vicinity of Los Angeles - local traffic could add another hour depending on where you might want to go... Steve

Robert Buldoc wrote: We are going to stay in Circus Circus hotel! I know, i know its for kids Circus Circus was not for just kids when I was last there (1999)! What to do? Dollar slots! If you hit a jackpot and come out ahead by a couple hundred bucks or so then bet it all on BLACK in roulette. If you win then you are way ahead. Switch to quarter slots and spend the rest of the trip slowly losing money but getting free drinks while you do it.

Luxor is nice. The Sega arcade on the attraction level is pretty good (but games are pricey). They have three Luxor-themed rides on that level too. Go on #1, don't bother with the other two. Do make sure to go to one of the upper floors so you can look down over the whole interior of the place, it's quite the sight. Also do go to Stratosphere (opposite end of the strip from Luxor). You have to pay to go up in the space needle part, but it's worth it for the view. If you're a Trek geek check out the Trek-themed stuff in the Hilton (1 block east of the strip near the north end). Heck, you could take an afternoon and just walk through all the new hotels (NYNY, Paris, Bellagio) and admire all the crap built by people far, far richer than you. ;) Finally, wash all your clothes when you get back in gool ol' non-smoking California because as soon as you step foot in Vegas your clothes soak up all the smoke. All of this said I'm not in a hurry to return - but I thought it was worth the experience once, if only to confirm that the places shown in ConAir, Mars Attacks and Oceans Eleven really do exist and that for once real life does outdo Hollywood :) Roger Wright wrote: It's about a four to five hour trip, if the lunatics in CA don't kill you along the way Wow. You must drive like the devil. I seem to recall our trek from Phoenix took about 8 hours of road time (not counting the stops at the Hoover Dam and Wickenburg and at Kingman who's main street is named Andy Devine Avenue (look him up on IMDB)) :) And on the subject of the Hoover Dam - I think it's best approached from the Arizona side - you come down a long slope toward the dam and the first thought is 'is that it?'. It's not until you cross over the top of the dam wall into Nevada that you appreciate the scale of the thing. We did the complete tour down under the wall itself and into the generator room. One detail they can't resist pointing out during the film show is a shot of Las Vegas ca 1935 - no one guesses where it is :) All of this said I still think the Snowy Mountains Scheme was bigger :) Rob Manderson http://www.mindprobes.net **Paul Watson wrote:**What sense would you most dislike loosing? I just got back from Vegas (Dec 4 - 7). Went there for two friends' combined bachelor party - very, very fun trip :) We stayed at the Luxor, which is pretty neat on the outside, but not nearly as neat as Mandalay Bay, Ceasar's Palace, Venetian, Bellagio, etc... on the inside. Take a walk down the new strip with all of the newer themed hotels (Venetian, Bellagio, Treasure Island, etc...) and walk through all of them. They really are amazing inside. You definitely must see the Bellagio - the lobby has 2000 blown-glass flowers suspended from a huge skylight[^]. Their botanical gardens are quite the sight, too. Bit of advice: take out X $ for gambling when you first arrive, and STOP GAMBLING WHEN YOU LOSE THAT. Also, if you ever find yourself thinking "I think this stripper actually likes me", get up and leave - you're about to hand her all of your money. ;P Have fun! -- Russell Morris "So, broccoli, mother says you're good for me... but I'm afraid I'm no good for you!" - Stewy

1. If you've ever been to Venice, then you have to go to the Venetian. There are canals with gondolas and it's absolutely amazing. 2. See the outside shows at the Mirage (fountains), Bellagio (also fountains), and Treasure Island (pirate ship battle). 3. Ride the roller coaster on the top of the Stratosphere. It starts about 200 feet up in the air. You can also go on the Freefall ride on the top of the Stratosphere as well. Then, if you're up for it, ride the NY, NY roller coaster. 4. Rent a car and go to Hoover Dam. An incredible piece of engineering. Regards, Brigg Thorp Software Engineer Timex Corporation
