I thought this forum might be a reasonable place to post this question, given how cosmpopolitan CP is. I'm off for a trip to Stockholm for a couple of nights in february, and wondered if anyone could recommend any hotels or restaurants in the central area? Debbie

Well, that depends on what you are willing to spend. Hotels: ------- Hilton Stockholm-Slussen is good, but it's pretty expensive I think... (+46-8-517 353 00) Hotell Diplomat, even more expensive, but excellent.. (+46-8-459 68 00) Victory Hotel, in the old town, maritime atmosphere (+46-8-506 400 00) Quality Hotel Globe, near the Globe, good reviews (+46-8-686 63 00) Restaurants: ------------ Don't know about any fancy resturants but you will find the best steak in the city if you go to Broncos Bar. Usually pretty crowded though, you might want to reserve a table in advance (like one week in advance) (+46-8-16 02 15)

Some alteratives concerning Restaurants: 5 best - 1 worst ( my personal opinion) price corresponds to the rating 5) Fredssg. 12, Bonloc (1 * Guide M.), Gondolen, Grand Hotel ( their french kithcen) 4) EAST, Sture Companiet, Riche, En halv trappa, Eriks bakficka La famiglia (italian very good, decent pricing a bit off though) 3 "Fully OK" Biblos, Japanees Restaurants Cafe Milano (italian, pasta) A good place to start is the "Sture Plan" area whith many alteratives. Most india/chineese restaurants are pretty lame. Most hotels i downtown are pretty expensive as far as i know. http://www.scandic.se/ is probably a good start (BTW i work 150 m from brocos and i must say that the stake is totally OK, but the place it self is a bit, well lets say it has been around for quite a lot of years and that you can see. ) /Claes

I don't have my map here so can't check whether it's obvious or not! I live near Birmingham, so would not want to visit an indian or chinese restaurant in Stockholm. :) Thanks for the comments, Debbie
