I was curious to know if anyone uses a notebook pc to do any part-time development using visual studio .net 2003. What kind of processor/setup is the notebook? How is the application performance on the machine? Or if anyone has any recommendations for a notebook computer, for developing software with Visual Studio? Thanks,

I use a DELL Precision M50 2.0GHz P4 with 512Mb DDR RAM and 40Gb Hard Disk for full time Development. Windows 2000, VS6.0 and dotNET. This is higher specified than most of the PC's in the Company, though the Drawing Office Workstaions with SCSI drives have an advantage. We need the laptops so we can move to test sites to debug software/equipment as we write ATE software. It's about 10 times faster than the PIII 450MHz 512Mb PC100 I used before. Why Am I Still Here?

Most dev's I know use laptops/notebooks with VS.NET 2003 for full time development. Mine is 2 years old; a 1.2GHz P3, 512MBs RAM and 30GBs of disk. Performance is not a problem. It works fine. You should remember though that you'll want a screen of more than 1024x768 when working with VS.NET. So either go for a laptop with a 1400x1024 (or more) LCD, or use it with an external monitor...
