My current car: Subaru Imprezza WRX[^] It sticks to corners like it was on rails. The engine is a flat boxter style and so the center of gravity is super low. I know you would outpower me, but I'd be willing to race you on a windy highway any day of the week. I suspect you'd be slowing for corners that I'd be barreling through. Aside from that, your car seems very nice and it does get excellent ratings. My next car: WRX STI[^] A genuine super car by any definition for under 35K $US, you really can't beat that. Of course if your rich and the skies the limit then there are much more recognizable brands of supercars out there, but for the money, nothing beats it.

I assume you had bought the 2003 one, right? So its trade-in value a year later must have been what, $10 grand less than what you paid for it? So then you had to pay that plus the difference on the new model. Must have not been cheap! I'm the kind of guy who buys a car and keeps it for a good 3 or 4 years before considering to replace it. But it's cool to find people with the kind of income that affords them a new car every year. Good for you, man! :-) Regards, Alvaro

Between the design of the car and the Active Handling system (computer automatically fires individual brakes for course correction), it's an absolute romp to drive. John Cardinal wrote: but for the money, nothing beats it. Yeah, that was my philosophy on the Vette, too. The Viper is 500 horse compared to my coupe's 350. However, it's $85k. It's cool, but it isn't $35k cooler than a Vette. Same thing with the Ford GT - another seriously cool car, but $150k. The new Corvettes (C5, probably C6 too) are serious leaders in the "bang for the buck" category. Besides, if I bought a Ferrari, I'd have to hire a full time mechanic, too, just to keep it on the road...

Are you really serious about putting a modified riding mower up against a vette ? I no longer own one ( too old and fat and lazy ) but I used to have one and also a had SCCA license. Used to race in a few amatuer races and the ONLY competition was from the Porches. And even then I now realize the difference was in the tires I was using. the vette was as fast and could handle just as well as any production sports car in the world under 150K. And the newer vettes ( 2000 and up ) are really superior vehicles with the computer controlled suspension and new breaking system and the new engines are a dream. Subaru my ass... :) Richard "The man that hath not music in himself and is not moved with concord of sweet sounds is fit for treasons, stratagems and spoils; Let no man trust him." Shakespeare
