I was ranting about this in the soapbox earlier, but... Is there a way to do this? SP4's lame security patches practically disable IE from reaching a lot of websites. I'm starting to have problems with reaching codeproject and suprnova.org, those pages aren't loading right half the time. Then there's my streaming audio channels, they don't work much anymore either. That didn't happen when I didn't have any service packs installed whatsoever, they all worked fine, but SP4 had to screw it all up. Thanks for any help. EDIT: OK, by some odd miracle, I have uninstalled SP4 and and still have a 149GB (160GB to WD) hard drive, but without having to have SP4 installed. I guess you still need atleast SP4 in order for Win2k to recognize the drive in administrative tools so you can format it, but doesn't need it to recognize it after you've already formatted it. How odd, but I'll live with it.

For the first part, I never had any problems with SP4 and websites. I recently switched this system over to Windows XP due to a trashed hard disk, which was nothing to do with Windows and everything to do with PartitionMagic. The problems I have had are to do with Internet Explorer 6, which corrupts its cache index files, apparently when the cache reaches its size limit. Clearing the cache (Temporary Internet Files) fixes the problem until the next time it fills up. Apparently Windows 2000 SP3 added support for LBA48 mode, required to handle disks over 137GB. More information[^]. Also, some chipset drivers add support (for example, the Intel Application Accelerator drivers for Intel 800 series chipsets).

Sorry, but I had no problem when installing Win2K with SP3. When I formatted the disk it asked if I wanted large disk support and as far as I know that has always been in Win2K, indeed in NT4  Elaine (bewildered fluffy tigress) The tigress is here :-D

Well, it's SP4 that's out now and I don't know of a way to just have SP3. But SP3 is what has the LBA 48-bit support. If you have a previous SP or no SPs installed, it will only recognize it as a 128B(137GB) drive. It sounds like SP4 is my problem, and that it has a buttload of restricting security patches.
