Well, maybe I was a bit misleading. The book actually covers a lot more besides only stored procedures. So there are only a few chapters devoted to stored procedures alone. It covers extended stored procedures, administrative stored procedures in sql server, and the basics about writing stored procedures. So if you only want to focus on stored procedures, you might want to try another book.

No question: "The guru's guide to SQL server stored procedures XML and HTML" by Ken Henderson followed by any other book he has written about SQL server There are even a few used ones available on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0201700468/qid=1078512685/sr=1-3/ref=sr_1_3/104-1137109-5983163?v=glance&s=books[^]

I support two teams: The Canucks and whoever is playing the Leafs.

Ahh! Sorry, I thought you specifically were looking for a book on stored procedures. Yes, stored procedures are written in Transact SQL. If you don't already know transact sql I can definitely recommend that book because I have it as well. In fact you should really buy both if your ultimate goal is to build a lot of stored procedures as the s.p. book contains a lot of useful info specific to stored procedures and programming with them in general. You can probably pick up both used from amazon for what I paid for one of them at a local book store.
