Terrible, isn't it.:-D I actually had to switch on the air conditioning yesterday. I don't dare shut down the heater, though, as this time of year the temperature can be really erratic. Perhaps I'll paint the house tomorrow. Will Build Nuclear Missile For Food - No Target Too Small

Maybe I shouldn't say this, but I've never experienced thudersnow in my life. Is this when you have both lightening and snow? Jeremy Falcon

Yes! It is most likely to occur in the midwest states, but even there it isn't a common occurrence. I live in Missouri and I've only experienced the event once. We got 4-6" in one hour. There was frequent thunder, but only a few cloud-to-ground strikes. The University of Missouri began the first research project on the phenomenon last year.

I was raised and lived for 35 years in Oregon. Then I moved to Ohio for five years. I was shocked to see a snow backlit by a thunderstorm on Christmas day. In Oregon, thunder leaves in early fall and does not come back until late spring. Was so strange! Rocky <>< www.HintsAndTips.com www.GotTheAnswerToSpam.com

Ohio's . We get such interesting* wind patterns in the spring. (* I live in Xenia[^], where in my lifetime we've been hit by tornados in 1974, 1989, and 2000...)

Wheeler wrote: I live in Xenia[^], Yeah, that is one place we always tried to avoid in the spring, had enough tornado warnings in northen Columbus ;) For me, I have seen one so that idea was exciting until the sirens are going off and the aleart system is shouting "seek shelter". Xenia seems to be a tornado magnet! Where I live in Oregon, we have wimpy thunderstorms compared to out there. My mother would call and say they had such a huge storm, and I had to laugh because there was no comparison with the storms out there in Ohio. The number of times I got up at 3:00 in the morning to sit in front of the TV watching the storm cells pass by. But hey, I am a lightning bug, I loved it, as long as it did not try to relocate us ;) The last year we where there we had a "storm wall". It was a wierd looking sorm that looked a lot like a black wall moving toward you. Was cool, but spooking looking. The only other thing I seen storm wise out here in Oregon is a lightning ball. I was up on one of our mountain sides over looking the city with my trusty old Nikon FE taking pictures of the passing lightning storm. I got a few decent shots and went to reload my camera... Yep as the back was open and film going in, I saw a flash look like it hit a mountian top on the other side of the city and then sat there like a ball shining out over the city for must have been 5-10 seconds. Was an incredible sight, but of course I was standing their with my camera open, loading film. Glad we are now in a digital age! Sure was a cool sight!
