Well fork over the equivalent money as a recurring donation, and maybe Chris can get rid of those bloody ads for you. ;P BW CP Member Homepages

That 'bloody ad' is what allows us to pay for all this stuff! It turns out our monitoring system on one of the servers was on the blink. I've fixed it so any IIS/ASP breakdowns should self-repair within a minute or so. cheers, Chris Maunder

I actually think CP does a good job with ads that are of interest, and also making them inobtrusive when I'm looking for other things. The ad to the left especially works, I have a blind spot to my left when on CP now, I know it's an ad. Yet, if there's something that interests me, it seems to get processed sufficiently to grab my attention, and off I go. Christian I have drunk the cool-aid and found it wan and bitter. - Chris Maunder

I think the gentleman was simply trying to say that he'd be quite willing to cover all of CP's expenses out of his own pocket in exchange for an ad free site. I'm sure you cut him off just as he was about to give you his credit card number. Boy, you web guys can be a really testy lot... Well my problem was the site crashing not necessarily the ads. From my perspective it seems to have been getting worse over the last month or two. However if Chris reckons he has fixed it good :) I really don't much care whether CP has ads or paid subscriptions as long as it's not both. I'm also not interested in donations + ads which is the worst of all possible scenarios imho. Paying for the site and still getting the ads X|
