Thought I'd celebrate some totally geek moments with CP.

This week has been great for me. The PC gods has smiled upon me. 1)My MP3 BOX project is fully complete. It has 2 hard drives on it full of MP3s that I also have networked as network drives on mine and my dad's systems. And it works through Xvnc to control XMMS and play songs in my living from my system. So, basically, that system has only 2 wires hooked up to it: power cord and speakers. I'm working on my documentation/article for it as I did this as my semester final project for two of my classes. The internet streaming audio aspect is still coming though... 2)Got another hard drive for my system, a 160USD 160GB Western Digital for 60USD after rebates. My dad had sprung for $160 and I only had to pay the $60 in order to get the hard drive from. 3)Installed a RAID card so I can actually use the hard hard drive I just bought. So now I have three hard drives totalling 353.8GB of space. Yes, I may actually one day use it all, I'm a downloading freak. 4)Got to see the season finale of Stargate SG-1. It was a very good episode, I liked it a lot. I'm a huge fan of SG-1 period. Now, the only thing that would make this geek day better is if my internet would stay up. The problem I'm having here is that it seems my HTTP likes to stop working some time after I (re)boot. All my other internet (email, telnet) services still works, but web browsers (all of them, SlimBrowser, IE6 and Mozilla) and Outlook (that I use seperately from OE for my hotmail account) all stop working after so long. It's rather upsetting. Any ideas on how I might be able to fix this? I'm running Windows 2000 no SPs I think and IE6 with SP1 and SlimBrowser uses the IE6 kernel. All in all, I'm very happy today. It's been a good day for my geek side.

Stargate: Atlantis (from imdb.com) Atlantis follows the adventures of the Stargate Atlantis team, which is formed after a secret base, abandoned by the original builders of the Stargates, is found buried in the ice of Antarctica. Their discovery leads to a daring expedition to the distant Pegasus galaxy, where they encounter a primitive human civilization and a sinister new enemy that threatens human life everywhere. Maj. John Sheppard, a courageous and gifted pilot,Dr. Elizabeth Weir, head of the mission and a diplomatic relations specialist. Rounding out the cast is Lt. Aiden Ford, an enthusiastic young officer who becomes Sheppard's second-in-command, astrophysicist Dr. Rodney McKay(SG-1), and Teyla, a beautiful young leader among the primitive alien civilization that the Atlantis team encounters. In a special guest starring role, sci-fi favorite Robert Patrick (Terminator 2, The X-Files) will appear as Col. Marshall Sumner in the two-hour Atlantis premiere event. It would have been more satisfying if Anubis had gotten ahold of him (Kinsey)and they had both gone up in smoke when the ship was distroyed - or a random staff shot had gotten thru before the iris closed as he was attempting to "flee the planet" - as it is he will still be around to cause trouble next season. I picked up season 6 a few weeks ago. Quantum Leap Season 1 is finally making it to DVD - release date June 8, 2004. :-D Steve

I'd definitely apply the service packs to Win2K - at least up to SP2, though I haven't had any problems I can trace to SP3. What exactly do you mean by saying your HTTP stops working? There is no such service, it's just a protocol. One of the Internet-related services on your installation may have problems, though, that the service pack fixes. Sweet setup, though! :-D Will Build Nuclear Missile For Food - No Target Too Small
